ticom, the "Tyrolean Ensemble for Contemporary Music"

was founded in 1984 by the composer Günther Zechberger and has been directed by him for 18 years.

The Ensemble saw its task in the consistent encouragement of contemporary music and, accordingly, in the promotion of what’s new, unknown and difficult.
In order to arouse the audience’s curiosity, to reduce existing fears of "the unknown" and to give new impetus to both the musicians and the composers, new ideas and concepts for the performance of contemporary music and communication with the audience were developed.
Flexibility and readiness to take risks were outstanding features of the Ensemble.
Numerous projects in the public sphere and projects dealing with innovative technical requirements impressively show the strengths of these features.

Under the direction of Günther Zechberger the Ensemble

  • has given numerous concerts in Austria and abroad
    - among other places in Poland, Hungary, Bulgaria, Turkey, Italy, Germany, Albania, England, Croatia and Japan

  • has performed works of more than 100 living composers, including many premières

  • did a lot of experiences in
    live-broadcastings
    free improvisations
projects in open and public space
interactions between fine arts and music

  • has made numerous radio and CD recordings

Under the new name TENM (Tiroler Ensemble für Neue Musik) the ensemble continues its work directed by Harald Pröckl
