"Begegnungen" (Encounters) is a series of concerts by the "Tyrolean Ensemble for Contemporary Music", the first part of which was performed in 1999 and which takes place at a regular basis in Innsbruck at the end of November.

Every year six young composers will be our guests in Innsbruck in order for us to establish encounters between composers, musicians and the audience. The artistic portraits of these international composers are presented through three concerts. The composers’ countries of origin are selected according to main topics.

Independent concert programmes for the "Tyrolean Ensemble of Contemporary Music" are then developed according to the composers’ portraits. These programmes are provided on a well-selected basis (i.e. according to geographic, thematic aspects) to people in the field of contemporary music world-wide.

The structure of an increasingly tight global network of composers, musicians and audience, which is deliberately established through the main topics, is designed to prevent incoherent contents.

From the momentum it has already gathered after the first series of concerts we can definitely assume that numerous projects will follow "Begegnungen". Continuity, lasting value and "future" can therefore be guaranteed.
